Frequently Asked Questions

What is PRP?

This treatment is thought to rejuvenate through Microneedling of a client's own platelet-rich plasma (PRP). To do this,  draw a small amount of the client’s blood and place it in a centrifuge to isolate natural growth factors. PRP can spur collagen production and increase blood flow, which results in firmer skin. When aplly into specific areas of the face, PRP Microneedling reduce the appearance of wrinkles and result in a vibrant, youthful appearance.

What is microneedling?

It is an FDA-approved electronic handheld device that is used to rejuvenate the skin and improve the skin surface by reducing fine lines, expression lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and acne scars. The concept of Micro Needling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical injury such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. As the Micro Needling device moves across the skin, it makes pinpoint punctures to create very minor micro-“injuries.” In response to the perceived “injury,” a cascade of growth factors is released, which in turn triggers new collagen synthesis. This process has two major benefits - it effectively stimulates collagen formation and provides a clear channel for topical serums to be absorbed through the surface of the skin. By persistently triggering this healing process with a series of Micro Needling treatments, the body keeps repairing the skin incrementally and cumulatively to offer a result like laser treatments or chemical peels, but without the side effects and extended downtime. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin. Once the desired result has been achieved, it is important to maintain collagen stimulation by returning for quarterly maintenance treatments. While most commonly used on the face, Micro Needling can also be used to restore and regenerate the skin on the neck, chest, and hands. Micro Needling is safe for all colors of skin and all types of skin.

Who can have it?

Any client who wishes to reduce volume loss, fine lines, and textural changes of the skin is suitable for this procedure. It also appeals to the client who is looking for a natural approach to volumizing the face and treating or reducing fine lines.

Are there any contraindications?
  • There are very few contraindications to PRP treatment. As the client’s own blood is used to prepare PRP, the risk of disease transmissions, allergic reactions, toxicity or rejection is avoided. Other contraindications include:

  • If you are taking blood thinners.

  • Who have hematological disorders or concurrent infections.

  • Who are being treated with Roaccutane.

  • Who have immunosuppression.

Approximately $200. Packages are available at discounted rates.

How long does the treatment take?

This treatment is a 1hr procedure. After 9 cm3 of blood (approximately 1 vial) is drawn from the client, it is spun down in a centrifuge at a precalculated speed to retrieve the most viable fibrin and platelets. After centrifugation, the platelet and fibrin component of the blood (the top layer) is extracted and aplpy into the area of concern.

The treatment can be repeated, and better results are seen with 2-3 treatments given 3-4 months apart, however, once the desired result has been achieved, it is important to maintain collagen stimulation by returning for quarterly maintenance treatments. Clients can expect to see better results as they receive more treatments. With time, the results of PRP get better and better.
